and now, on to bedding - my current obsession

so. we're having a boy. in case you didn't catch that yet. between my sisters and garrett's sisters, we've got almost everything big we need to get for this kid, which is awesome to me. carseats, strollers, bouncers, swings, even the crib. there are very few things that we need to purchase. baby bedding is one of them. i kinda want to get something neutral in case the next baby is a girl - i'd like the option of being able to use it again. at first, i really liked this paisley option, then i kinda found some jungle/animal options that i really like. now i am completely perplexed. please help, share new ideas or opinions. and why do i all of a sudden feel the need to have the nursery all set up right now? i mean, logically i know i've got plenty of time. i wish i were more patient.

this is the original find a la target o' paisley:
this is the pottery barn jungle that i found:this is the land of nod that hojo told me about, momma likey a lot a lot:

if i were going neutral, it would be dr. seuss from pb all the way: http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/dr-seuss-nursery-bedding/?pkey=bunisex-nursery-bedding. love love love! but i have bought new bedding for each kid, just think it's more fun that way. do you guys have a pb outlet nearby? i got baby girl's there for a steal. okay, but back to bedding. i just bought this in "big boy" http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/madras-nursery-bedding-blue/?pkey=bboys-nursery-bedding for my boys. it is something they could grow with. well, not the bumpers, but the overall look. i'm hoping the madras will last the boys for ever and ever. and it's on sale! back to neutral, this would work: http://www.target.com/DwellStudio-Target-Little-Dots-Crib/dp/B002S5122U/ref=br_1_25?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=13882251&node=13882251&sr=1-25&searchRank=pmrank&searchPage=1&searchSize=30&id=DwellStudio%20Target%20Little%20Dots%20Crib&qid= you could add blue for a boy & pink for a future girl. not neutral, this http://www.target.com/DwellStudio-Target-Space-Crib-Set/dp/B002S54NIU/ref=br_1_4?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=13882251&node=13882251&sr=1-4&searchRank=pmrank&searchPage=2&searchSize=30&id=DwellStudio%20Target%20Space%20Crib%20Set&qid= is almost identical to simon's set, but his is red & dark/light blues. LOVE! this http://www.target.com/Sumersault-Geo-Boy-10-pc-Crib/dp/B001MEY0IQ/ref=br_1_2?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=13882251&node=13882251&sr=1-2&searchRank=pmrank&searchPage=8&searchSize=30&id=Sumersault%20Geo%20Boy%2010-pc%20Crib&qid= could possibly go either way...play up blue for boy, play up orange for girl. super cute. last but not least, don't be afraid to check wal mart. that is where i got simon's and i was super happy with it. they have a bunch online, just a quick browse i found these that i liked: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sumersault-Bubble-Fun-4-Piece-Crib-Bedding-Set-Green/8112880 http://www.walmart.com/ip/Little-Bedding-by-NoJo-Jungle-Play-4-Piece-Crib-Bedding-Set/10878985 http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sumersault-Aloha-Patchwork-Crib-Bedding-Collection-Boy/11078593 good luck! such fun!!

Loved all the suggestions and I think you can find the more expensive things either at outlets or on sale because you have lots of time to wait for the sale. How fun it is to decide. I'm not so sure you will use the same one for the next baby unless he is a boy and just too easy and still in wonderful condition. How about a quilt?

Here's the thing. You can only get away with "little boy things" like jungle animals for so long before they outgrow them. I say go with the animals. I like the Pottery Barn one the best.

So flippin' excited for you!!

Maybe I am a dud but.,, I read you are not supposed to put bumpers in cribs because pose a suffocation hazard along with blankets/ stuffed animals etc. I just got some crib sheets and tie dyed them then used sharpies to draw a bedtime theme on one, a insect theme on another and finally a ocean theme on the last. Bos has always loved them. When he was young he like to point to the different things, or identify color. Now he likes me to make up stories based on what his sheet is. The other nice thing is because they are multi-colored they don't show spit up stains or others :) I like that is was handmade and that it was MUCH cheaper. Totally disregarded this comment if you really want a bedding set.

I lurve that Land of Nod set and wish that's the one I had gotten for Connor... but it came out after he was born, and I was already using something else. I actually saw that set at the LoN outlet here in Naperville just last week. The argyle bumper is adorable!

This is the gender-neutral ABC/Animals set I went with for Connor: CoCaLo's Alphabet Soup

I do have to say though... as much as I wanted to use the entire bedding set, I've only ever made use of the crib skirt and window valance. I almost hung the quilt on the wall, but it ended up looking too busy for the room, and I really picked the bedding for the striped fabric on the 2 pieces I ended up using. So, the bumper has sat underneath the crib, and the quilt in the closet, the entire time.

In hindsight, I wish I hadn't bought a bedding set, but separates instead (like the Dwell line), and saved the money for more Etsy artwork and accessories.

I have a little something I want to send you for Baby Boy W. - please e-mail me your mailing address?

We did jungle safari when we didn't know if we were having a boy or girl. It totally works for either sex. I also bought two fitted sheets and some sheet protectors. I layered the sheet protectors and sheets so that if the baby messed one of them in the middle of the night, I could just pull it off and there would be a clean sheet underneath. The other day I noticed how even after two years, the set still looks really nice. Pretty much anything green, yellow, brown, sometimes blue will work for both boy and girl. I particularly love my jungle animals! Good Luck!

I like the mix of wild things in the Land of Nod one, which is why I sent it to you.

This is a riveting comment, no?

Of course, you could always go with Will's bedding.

You can buy individual pieces at other places online for less.

I like the Land of Nod bedding. As far as neutral goes, screw it. If you have a girl, won't you want to girl it up? Boy this fella up. I love the Land of Nod stuff I really do. Planning the nursery and buying all the cute clothes is part of the fun of being pregnant!! Enjoy it and indulge!! This is such an exciting time!
